Voter apathy is blamed for the demise of a citizens group in Meaford.
RAMSS — or Residents Association of Meaford, Sydenham, and St. Vincent was organized 13 years ago as a watchdog group overseeing the actions of local council.
President Bill Taylor says they had an impact on how councillors voted on several issues, but he says no one wants to continue the fight.
Taylor says a lot of the members are now older, and there is no one to pass the torch on to.
He says young people don’t feel there is any point in fighting city hall and don’t feel they can have an impact.
Taylor says although RAMSS is now officially dissolved, he’ll continue to appear before Meaford council to give his opinion on the issues being discussed.
He says the group always tried to be constructive in their criticizm over the years.
