Saturday will see a legion of elves out collecting old Christmas trees in Owen Sound.
Actually they will be elves from the Legion who have volunteered to go around the city Saturday afternoon to pick up Christmas trees to be disposed of at the city’s compost site.
Legion Member Jeff Lockwood is the organizer’s of this weekend’s Christmas Tree round up and says they still need volunteers to help load the trucks.
He says there are designated corners where the trees should be place by Saturday morning and he wants people to make sure there are no decorations or lights or tinsel on the.
Lockwood says the trees have to be natural because they are going to be composted or turned into mulch.
He says the volunteers should dress warmly because the temperatures Saturday will be a bit on the chilly side.
Lockwood says volunteers also will get a free lunch a the Legion before then begin their rounds.
If anyone wants to volunteer, they can call Lockwood at 519-372-3008 or the Legion at 519-376-7784.
