Grey County council’s first meeting of the new year on Tuesday saw the affirmation of new chairs for the county’s four core committees.
The committees began their new sessions last month but their work, as always, is not official until their meeting minutes have been ratified by county council.
That happened on Tuesday.
The various minutes detailed the acclamations of new chairs in the social services, finance and personnel, planning and community development and transportation and public safety committees.
Southgate Deputy Mayor Brian Milne is the new chair of social services, taking over from Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners.
West Grey Deputy Mayor Dan Sullivan was elected vice-chair in a two-man race with Meaford Deputy Mayor Mike Traynor.
Grey Highlands Mayor Brian Mullin is the new chair of planning and community development, replacing The Blue Mountains Deputy Mayor Duncan McKinlay, who was acclaimed the vice-chair.
Georgian Bluffs Mayor Alan Barfoot takes over from Chatsworth Mayor Howard Greig as chair of transportation and public safety.
Grey Highlands Deputy Mayor Dave Fawcett was acclaimed the vice-chair.
West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles heads up finance and personnel.
Chatsworth Deputy Mayor Bob Pringle stepped down from the chair but remains on the committee and was acclaimed its vice-chair.
Pringle will also be the chair this year of the local Board of Health.
He was vice-chair last year and replaces Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer.
Georgian Bluffs Deputy Mayor Dwight Burley was appointed on Tuesday to the Board of Health, joining Pringle, Eccles and Warden Arlene Wright as Grey’s four representatives.
