Christmas may have come and gone but its not too late to make a donation to the Christmas Angel campaign to help support the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre Foundation.
In fact — the money raised through donations will help you if you ever have to go to the Emergency Department at the Owen Sound hospital with abdominal pain.
Paul Weitendoft — Executive Director of Grey Bruce Health Centre Foundation — says the money raised this year will go towards the purchase of two portable ultrasound machines for the hospital.
Weitendoft says this equipment will help update the hospital’s equipment.
One will be used in the ER to help diagnose abdominal pain, the other will also be used in the hospital.
Weitendoft says the purchase of the machinery will also help in the recruitment of new ER doctors.
He says new interns are being trained with portable ultrasound machinery and expect to see them in any ER they decide to practise in.
Weitendoft also says money raised will go towards urology scopes that will help the city’s four urologists serve thousands of patients annually.
Weitendoft says the goal is to raise 340-thousand dollars for the campaign.
He says its not too late to donate to the campaign as donations are excepted by calling the hospital foundation and donating with your credit card – online at the hospitals website and finding the link to the foundation’s website.
Just before Christmas the funds raised were sitting at 290-thousand dollars.
