The Power Worker’s Union has got into the swing of supporting the planned accessible playground in Saugeen Shores.
The union’s members at the Bruce Power site have donated 15 thousand dollars to the project.
Chief Steward Linda Crombeen says they receive submissions from members suggesting worthwhile projects to support, then they do an assessment, then a subcommittee of members from the various communities decides on the best way to spend the money in each area.
Crombeen says the money comes from an equity fund the members have to support local communities.
She notes the union was on board to support the playground as soon as they heard about it.
The new playground is to be located at Jubilee Park in Southampton.
The Town of Saugeen Shores is considering raising an extra 113 thousand dollars to enhance the project further.
