Huron Kinloss Council has done a comparison between sports registration fees in Ripley and Lucknow.
Councillor Jim Hanna says they’re basically dealing with two separate entities because Lucknow facilities are run by a joint board with Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh, and Ripley facilities are regulated by the township.
Hanna says both the township and the Lucknow board believe at this time that their fees are reasaonable.
As an example, it costs 250 dollars to register one child in minor hockey in Lucknow — and it’s 265 dollars in Ripley.
However, one family recently found out they had to pay a late fee when one of their children had to transfer registration from Ripley to Lucknow.
Hanna says that is unfortunate and he hopes the recreation boards for each community consider implementing a policy that will allow young hockey players to transfer without any late fees or penalties.
The player had to be transferred because there weren’t enough other players registered in her division in Ripley.
