South Bruce Peninsula residents should get a look at preliminary drawings in the New Year for a new and improved Bluewater Park.
Design Consultant Sean Kelly hired to draw up the plans and oversee the project says they’ll likely schedule at public meeting for late January to show residents several options.
From there, Kelly says, they’ll pick a preferred scheme with guidance from residents.
Kelly says from the sessions they’ve already held with members of the public they’ve seen several suggestions come up again again.
He says many would like to see proper signage for Bluewater Park so more visitors can find it, enhancement of green space, year round use of the park, a central washroom station and a consolidation of the playground area.
Kelly says sometimes overcoming change can be difficult but if those resisting the upgrades to the park allow the process to move forward — the community could really have something nice.
There has been opposition to the proposed changes which include the elimination of seasonal and overnight campsites.
The original plans also included moving the boat launch.
However after an 18 hundred signature petition was presented to council — that change has been scrapped.
