The Victoria Order of Nurses (VON) is partnering with the Hanover and District Hospital in a new venture.
The VON has set up an office and clinic in one of the hospital’s ward rooms.
Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson says the VON will be offering that clinic weekly.
Wilson says some of the VON patients will than come to the clinic to have their dressings and IV’s changed and other such procedures rather than have the service provided in their home.
Wilson says the VON clinic is good fit for the Hanover Hospital and calls it a smart partnership that brings health care into one spot.
She adds hospital VON clinics are not new and it’s a trend that has been growing across Ontario.
Many VON patients will still receive their treatment at home.
However once the clinic is set up, some will attend the clinic instead.
This will include those who require frequent dressing changes.
Wilson says its just a more efficient use of the VON’s time.
