Three members of Owen Sound Council have been appointed to a new airport strategy ad hoc committee.
Councillors John Christie, Peter Lemon and Bill Twaddle have joined the committee.
Its purpose is to look at the future strategy and operation of the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport.
City Manager Jim Harrold and Operations Director John Johnston will be the staff liaisons on the committee.
Harrold says the importance of the airport to Owen Sound and the surrounding area is such that the facility needs continued attention and direction from Council as well as from airport and city staff.
Harrold notes the airport operates at a deficit every year and it’s crucial that its benefits are not outweighed by its disadvantages.
