Don’t be alone this Christmas day for dinner.
That is the message from the Salvation Army of Owen Sound and area.
They are hosting their annual turkey dinner this Christmas Day starting at Noon and served at 1 PM.
Alice Wannan — the Community and Family Services Director — says no one will be turned away.
Wannan says the tickets they have issued compared to years past have gone way up — they are sitting at almost 250 tickets being handed out so far this year.
Wannan says though if on Christmas day you find yourself alone — you don’t have to be — show up and there will be a seat for you.
She says the main component of the event — aside from the close to 30 turkeys and 120 pounds of potatoes — is the volunteers.
Wannan says there will be close to 30 volunteers who make this part of their Christmas tradition.
Volunteers will be cooking, serving and visiting with guests.
She also says the outpouring from the community has been overwhelming with people donating food, money and volunteering.
Wannan says there is plenty for everyone — and some that will attend will not have eaten for a few days — so she expects them to have several helpings.
Nothing goes to waste as the leftovers will go to the area woman’s shelter.
Wannan says there will be entertainment starting at Noon.
If you would like to attend the dinner is at the Salvation Army at 365 14th Street West in Owen Sound on Christmas day.
