It’s shaping up as a white Christmas in northern Ontario, but a sloppy and wet day in the south.
Environment Canada says northwestern Ontario can expect to 20 centimetres of snow by tomorrow morning.
Rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain and ice pellets is in the Christmas forecast for much of southern Ontario.
Bayshore Broadcasting Weather Specialist John Wilson says we might miss the freezing rain in our area.
He says it all depends on the weather system that moves into the area in the morning since milder temperatures are expected in the afternoon and that means light rain.
Eastern Ontario is looking at rain and a bit of snow in some places before the rain moves in by Boxing Day.
Environment Canada also reports there will be no white Christmas for about 25 per cent of Canadians.
At least two-centimetres of snow has to be on the ground to meet the department’s criteria for a white Christmas.
Climatologist Dave Phillips says it appears Christmas will be green for Vancouver Island, B-C’s southern mainland, a large stretch of southern Ontario, and St. John’s, Newfoundland.
