The host of Going Fishing TV wants Brockton to take care of its waterways.
Darryl Choronzey believes the Saugeen River has the potential to become the number one cold water trout fishing river east of the Rocky Mountains.
But before this can happen — Choronzey says something has to be done about Walkerton’s two dams.
Choronzey says for the most part the fish are not getting past the two dams.
He would like to see the dams removed, breached or have streams created around them.
If this were done Choronzey says the fish would be able to spawn in the colder streams and the younger fish will migrate to the lakes provide a fishery and than return to their spawning grounds.
He says this could be a very lucrative venture creating millions of dollars for the local economy.
Choronzey says right now most of the steel head fishing and the anglers are spending their money in Southampton because they fish below Dennys Dam.
He says this could open it up all the way to Hanover.
Brockton is going to hold a special meeting in the new year with Choronzey and a representative from the Ministry of Natural Resources to discuss this venture in greater detail.
Choronzey’s “Going Fishing TV” program airs Saturdays on the Global Television Network it can also be found on the Fishing Network.
