Tis the season for parties but the Mayor of Brockton is expressing some concern.
Charlie Bagnato has an important message for those who serve alcohol at any of Brocktons four community centers and halls.
He wants them to be extremely careful not to serve anyone under aged or over serve anyone.
Bagnato says the liability costs associated with such a mistake could bankrupt Brockton.
He says servers need to be reminded about the immense responsibility they carry.
Bagnato notes Brockton could be on the hook for millions of dollars if they don’t adhere to all of the rules and regulations.
He adds that he has good reason to be concerned noting that two years ago both the Walkerton and Cargill Community Halls were shut down for a few weeks because of alcohol serving violations.
He wouldn’t even mind re-evaluating the current policy to see if large functions such as New Year’s Eve dance should require the staffing of an OPP officer.
Brockton’s four halls include the Walkerton arena, the Cargill Community Centre, the Elmwood hall and the Bradley Hall.
