The community of Saugeen Shores will be hosting the “Reindeer Romp” and the “Jingle Jaunt” on Sunday.
The event is preview of the Olympic Torch relay in the community which will be arriving on December 28th.
The “Reindeer Romp” and “Jingle Jaunt” are two separate runs designed to accommodate both young and older runners.
The “Reindeer Romp” is a 5 kilometre run or a 2 kilometre walk, whereas the “Jingle Jaunt” is designed for younger participants and will cover 800 metres.
For those who haven’t already signed up they can do so Sunday morning at 7:30 AM.
The “Jingle Jaunt” begins at 8:40 AM.
The “Reindeer Romp” starts at 9 AM.
Event spokesperson Jason Weppler states he hopes to have 100 participants and believes the event could accommodate up to 200 runners.
Proceeds from the event are being directed to the Saugeen Track & Field Club.
As a long time member of the Club, Weppler relates there are many physical and life experience benefits offered by the club.
