Owen Sound Firefighters will be donning their ‘Santa’s little helpers’ hats this morning.
It’s delivery day for the annual toy drive.
Acting Captain Wayne Flood says at the beginning of the week — it was looking as if they weren’t going to make their goal of 800 toys by today.
But he says once the story hit our airwaves — the response was terrific.
Flood figures they have about 820 toys to put under the trees of families who are less fortunate this Christmas.
He says off-duty firefighters will be getting into their own vehicles this morning and personally delivering the toys around the city.
Thrifty has also donated a truck to the cause.
Flood says while its unfortunate their services are needed each year — it is a rewarding part of the job.
