Hanover’s new arena may be far from complete — but that doesn’t mean you can’t lace up your skates in the town.
Hanover is very hopeful it will have an outdoor ice rink soon at the Hanover Kinsmen Ball Park.
Recreation Programs Manager Sherri Walden says it will be a shared venture between the Kinsmen Club, the Firemen’s Association and the town.
Walden says work on the perimeter boards will begin this weekend, and the rest will depend on the weather.
Walden says the ground needs to freeze and the temperature needs to drop consistently to minus 15 degrees for the ice rink to happen.
With Hanover’s own arena demolished and the new one under construction — Walden says the outdoor rink will fill an important need in the community.
If all goes as planned the outdoor ice rink will be 60 by 120 feet, providing residents with lots of space to pleasure skate and just get active.
