Great news for skiiers and snowboarders anxious to hit the slopes.
Blue Mountain near Collingwood has just announced it will open this weekend.
Spokesperson Kelly O’Neil says the Silver Bullet chair lift will be open starting Saturday to serve the Smart Alec run and the Easy Rider Magic Carpet will get you to the Easy Rider run.
O’Neil says the colder temperatures have been great for snowmaking and more natural snow than expected has led to the decision to open.
She says Blue will be open tomorrow from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on a day to day basis.
O’Neil tells us she hopes the runs will be open Sunday as well, but it’s best to check their website www.bluemountain.ca to check conditions.
She adds even though it’s a later start than last year which was in November, opening in mid-December is an average winter season so she’s not worried about lost revenue at this point.
Night skiing is scheduled to start on December 17th from 4:30 PM to 10 PM.
