The paperwork has been handed in — and the next step will now start in the Tornado Relief Fund Efforts in Grey County.
The deadline for claims was December 2nd and Bill Scriven the Chairman of the Grey County Disaster Relief Committee says they have between 64 and 70 claims filed.
Scriven says the application was a tedious process to fill out as it deals with uninsured necessities such as appliances.
Scriven says the next step in the process is two people — John Maddox and Bruce Maycock — that are retired from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs will visit the home of each claim and go over the paperwork with the applicant.
They will then they will be an adjusted claim – then they will look at the fundraising efforts – what money the county will be contributing and then the province has said it will match the claim up to 2 to 1.
Then the money will be distributed.
Scriven says it is a long process but they are hoping to have the funds sent out to all the applicants by March.
