The new Huron Terrace Bridge in Kincardine is now open.
Traffic began to roll across the new 3.4 million dollar bridge by the harbour on Friday afternoon.
The project began back in April of 2009 when the road was closed and removal of the old bridge began.
Summer tourists had to cross the river using a temporary pedestrian bridge, or use the Queen Street Bridge.
The Municipality of Kincardine is paying for 40 per cent of the new bridge, the County of Bruce is paying for the rest.
The County plans to formally transfer ownership of the bridge to Kincardine in the future.
Kincardine Deputy Mayor Laura Haight says they have been really fortunate during the fall to have good weather in order to get the work finished.
