GreyHound Canada is slashing bus service in Grey and Bruce.
Effective January 17th, there will only be one bus a week to Owen Sound from Toronto thru Orangeville on Highway 10, and one along Highway 6 through Guelph.
Those buses will arrive in Owen Sound Friday evening.
Return buses on those routes are only on Sunday.
Currently, GreyHound operates buses almost daily between Owen Sound and Toronto, alternating whether it is along Highway 10 or 6.
Terminal Manager Brenda Wilson says it’s a big change for people who get on the bus in places like Markdale, Durham or Mount Forest.
Wilson says they would now have to come to Owen Sound and ride buses thru Barrie to Toronto.
Greyhound is maintaining 2 buses daily from Owen Sound to Barrie and Toronto — but again — only once a week service from Owen Sound to Toronto along Highway 6 or 10.
Wilson says there is no impact on jobs at the local terminal.
So far, she has not received any feedback from customers, but says it will likely come now that the word of the cuts is out.
