Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch is ready to spend every minute of every day in the Ontario legislature if he has to.
The maverick MPP spent a second night in the Chambers at Queens Park with fellow Progressive Conservative Randy Hillier.
They refuse to leave in order continue to protest the HST and the province’s refusal to take it to public hearings around Ontario.
There were rumours swirling that both Murdoch and Hillier would be physically removed yesterday but that did not happen.
And both helped derail daily question period, forcing the speaker to call a recess yesterday morning.
Murdoch says they will stay as long as it takes to get the McGuinty government to hold more public hearings on the HST.
Murdoch calls it “the biggest tax grab ever” — and calls Dalton McGuinty an “undemocratic Premier” for refusing to hold HST hearings across Ontario.
Even if no hearings held — Murdoch feels their protest has worked because they have brought the issue to the forefront.
Murdoch says they are trying to stick out for the majority of Ontarians who do not support the 13 per cent harmonized sales tax.
Ontario Revenue Minister John Wilkinson is scheduled to talk about the HST at the Village at Blue tomorrow.
The event is hosted by the Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce and the cost is 20 dollars for the lunch buffet.
Anyone can attend.
