Kevin Eccles presided over his last meeting on Tuesday as warden of Grey County.
Eccles will remain a member of county council as the mayor of West Grey, but he decided to not seek a third year as warden.
He’ll be replaced by either Owen Sound Councillor Arlene Wright or Southgate Deputy Mayor Brian Milne.
An election will take place at a special council meeting on Tuesday evening.
Eccles gave a heartfelt farewell and listed several highlights of his second year on the job and thanked his fellow councillors and staff for their support.
He also paraphrased John F. Kennedy by urging his fellow politicians to ask not what their county could do for them, but to ask what they could do for their county.
Eccles says becoming the warden was something he aspired to from his early days as a municipal councillor.
His aspirations now lie in economic development for West Grey, but says hell remain an active member of county council.
He will continue to serve on the countys finance and personnel committee and the transportation and public safety committee.
Hes also a member of the ad hoc committee to find a replacement for retiring chief administrative officer Gary Wood.
