A man and his family escaped with minor injuries after hitting and killing a large draft horse on Highway 10.
Grey County OPP were called to the crash on Highway 10 at the Southgate Melancthon Townline just before 9 PM Friday.
Police say a pair of horses had raced across the path of a southbound pickup truck.
The truck hit one of the animals with such force that the vehicle spun around and ended up facing northbound on the east shoulder.
The horse was killed and the pickup sustained extensive damage.
The 37 year old Grand Valley man behind the wheel received a minor injury, as did one of two children in the truck.
Police say the horses had escaped from a pen of a nearby farm and their investigation continues.
