The safety of our drinking water will be front and centre at an upcoming seminar in Brockton.
Drinking Water Source Protection is holding the session tonight for area residents concerned about where their drinking water comes from — but more specifically for those living in well-head areas.
Spokesperson David Ellingwood says they’re the ones most affected by future restrictions on activities on their property in order to protect water at the source.
Ellingwood says once residents understand the connection between their activities and how they impact drinking water — work can begin on helping them modify those activities.
There will also be information available on the Drinking Water Stewardship Program and grants that are available to property owners in the Walkerton, Chepstow and Lake Rosalind areas.
Ellingwood says in some cases — provincial money will cover up to 80 percent of projects to protect drinking water.
The drop-in event goes from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brockton Council Chambers in Walkerton and will also include information about the nitrate study.
