It won’t be long before Hanover’s downtown has a fresh new look.
As Bayshore Broadcasting News Reporter Robyn Garvey tells us new street lights will be installed.
The town’s new decorative street lighting replacement project has come in 100 thousand dollars under budget.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says the 161 thousand dollar project will really brighten up the downtown core.
Maskell says Hanover’s downtown is very dark and dingy at night, not at all reflective of the progressive and lively community that Hanover is.
Maskell adds the 29 new decorative street lights will be installed in mid December, in time for the Olympic Torch Relay Run which will be come through Hanover on December 28th.
The 29 lights will replace 22 old black coach style lights that have been lighting Hanover’s night for 30 years now.
The project is a culmination of two years of planning between the town of Hanover and the Downtown Improvement Area Board.
