It’s been 10 years since Brockton’s amalgamation and staff want a change.
Richard Radford wants his position as CAO and Clerk to be divided into two separate positions and the position of Deputy Clerk to be eliminated all together.
With his list of CAO duties always expanding — Radford says he no longer has the time needed to dedicate to his Clerk position.
Over the last few years Radford has been delegating as much as he can to the Deputy Clerk.
He says it’s now come to the point where the delegating has gone as far as it can go without changing the Deputy Clerks position into a Clerk’s position.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato acknowledges that it may be time to make the shift.
He calls it a sign of the times saying the workload for senior administration staff continues to increase.
Before rendering a decision on the matter, Council wants to know how much it will cost first.
Council is awaiting a recommendation from the municipalities Job Evaluation Committee as to where a stand alone Clerk position should fall on the salary grid.
