Saugeen Shores Police want residents to be aware of a money scheme that has recently hit our area.
According to Police Chief Dan Rivett, seniors in the area are being called by someone purporting to be a grandson who’s in jail and needs money.
The person goes on to say they’re in Montreal and in big trouble.
A short time later another person calls saying he’s the lawyer of the first caller and that seniors send only cash to Montreal by way of a Money Gram through the post office.
Rivett says they’ve received at least ten complaints about such calls over the past couple of days.
Police are requesting residents to be cautious of any similar phone calls and to report it to police immediately if one is received.
