The upward trend continues when it comes to building permits in Owen Sound.
For the fourth month in a row — construction values were higher than the same month last year.
The city’s Development Co-ordinator Sandi Parks says October’s building permits totalled 68 with a value of just under 2.5 million dollars.
That compares to just 1.2 million for last October.
And Parks says new housing starts has taken a jump with the Green Ridge development at the former OSCVI property.
Building permits were issued for 13 new homes last month — 10 of them at that site and another three single family dwellings.
Parks predicted the jump before the suspension on development charges ends at the end of the year.
However she says council will hold a public meeting, sometime in the new year to discuss development fees and where they might be headed next year and the following four years to 2015.
