The controversy continues around South Bruce Peninsula Council.
Council members Tuesday decided not to move to rescind a motion asking Mayor Gwen Gilbert to vacate her office space in Town Hall.
At the Committee of the Whole meeting — Gilbert distributed a letter from her lawyers stating if the motion is acted upon she will seek relief from the Superior Court of Justice.
Council has requested Gilbert produce a report from the AMO Conference held in July — or to leave her office in council chambers.
The motion brought forward at last week’s meeting by Councillor Dan Kerr says Gilbert made a presentation to a Provincial Minister against the advice of the CAO and the knowledge of Council.
Gilbert says she did not give a presentation to the minister but only had a discussion regarding some concerns.
She says council has the wrong information because she has a letter from former CAO Malcolm McIntosh which does not advise Gilbert against speaking with the Minister.
Gilbert says she will provide council with a copy of the letter after they rescind their motion.
Also in the letter from Gilbert’s lawyers — it is noted that if the Mayor is forced to take the Town to court she will seek recovery of her legal expenses.
