A very well known anti-violence advocate is speaking in Owen Sound tonight.
James Loney is not only well known for his advocacy against anti-violence – but for the fact he was held hostage for 118 days in Iraq.
Loney — a former Durham resident — is a world wide known humanitarian.
The Grey Bruce Coalition for Peace and Justice spokesperson Michael McLuhan says they brought Loney in so he can relay his message of peace.
Loney will address students at OSCVI this afternoon about non violence.
Loney will then address an audience tonight at the Division Street United Church in Owen Sound at 7 PM.
McLuhan says there is no charge for admission tonight so that all can attend – there is seating available for several hundred.
Donations will be accepted.
Loney is with the Christian Peacemakers Teams being involved in Iraq and the west bank trying to reduce violence.
Loney has also worked on non violence campaigns in Ontario with First Nations communities.
Loney is known for his work with homeless having worked and founded the Toronto Catholic Worker house of hospitality.
