Canada’s former top soldier was in Wasaga Beach today.
Retired General Rick Hillier was at the RecPlex as part of the campaign to provide soldiers in Afghanistan with Christmas cheer.
The campaign started at the Wasaga Beach TD branch last year, and provided care packages for a thousand soldiers.
This year, the program expanded to 19 bank branches in the region.
At the RecPlex, Hillier helped pack up some of the idems that have been donated for soldiers, to be sent overseas in time for Christmas.
Earlier in the day, Hillier was in Collingwood for a lunch with the Chamber of Commerce at the Legion.
