A tragic end to a weekend long search for a missing West Grey man.
West Grey Deputy Police Chief Rob Thompson says the body of 56 year old Ralph Holliday has been recovered from a farm pond.
Holliday was reported missing late Friday after he was last seen leaving his Normanby Township home around 4:30 PM to check on some animals at a farm down the road.
His truck was found parked outside the barn and West Grey Police, the OPP, a helicopter, and several volunteers spent the bulk of the weekend searching for him.
Thompson says the searchers covered an area just northwest of Mount Forest and were dealing with thick bush and wetlands.
Holliday’s body was discovered yesterday afternoon around 1:45 PM by the OPP Underwater Unit.
Divers went into the pond which was about 20 feet deep using lights and search tools and recovered the body.
There will be an autopsy performed this afternoon in Owen Sound
Thompson states foul play is not suspected in this case.
