You’ll have to dig a little deeper into your wallet as Collingwood’s hospital tries to balance its books.
The hospital is facing a half million dollar deficit and CEO Linda Davis tells us the hospital is looking for ways to increase its revenue.
Starting on Monday, you’ll have to pay for missed appointments at the hospital.
It will also cost you a dollar more to park in the hospital’s lot so the fee will now be 6 dollars.
Davis says you’ll also have to pay for transportation after a hospital stay and there’s still a fee for fibreglass casts.
The CEO tells us no bed closures or staff layoffs are currently planned, but if the hospital finds out next year there is less government funding available then the hospital will be in a tight spot.
But she says she doesn’t want to speculate on what would happen.
There is usually a 50 thousand dollar fine against hospitals that don’t balance their books, but Davis says Collingwood has been allowed to carry a deficit without penalty.
Davis predicts a deficit for next year as well.
