Grey Bruce Health Services has administered more than one thousand H1N1 vaccinations to its staff and volunteers.
Maureen Solecki — the hospital corporations President and CEO — spoke about the figure at a board of directors meeting on Thursday evening.
The one thousandvaccination number was current as of the end of last week, Solecki says.
At that time, approximately 50 per cent of the corporations staff had been vaccinated.
The corporation has about 16 hundred employees.
Employees who have not yet been vaccinated are being encouraged to have the shot.
Solecki says people working in a GBHS hospital find it convenient to be vaccinated.
The shot can be administered anywhere and is being taken to where people are, rather than people having to leave their posts.
There has been no peak or pattern in terms of staff illness at GBHS.
Solecki also says the number of patients with flu-like or respiratory symptoms is down below normal numbers for this time of year.
Thats true of all hospitals in Grey and Bruce and it follows a spike in emergency room visits during the last week of October.
