Owen Sound Parks and Rec committee members will hear a presentation tonight by proponents hoping to get an off-leash dog park in Owen Sound.
Committee Chair Jim McManaman says they approached the city some time ago and he feels they have a lot of good ideas.
The idea of a dog park was looked at a few years ago for the old landfill site across from Duncan McClellan park — but it was rejected at the time because of cost.
Those costs were estimated at 40 thousand dollars for fencing, and 14 thousand dollars for a landscape architect.
McManaman says there seems to be a lot of support for an off-leash dog park in Owen Sound.
If the committee likes what it hears tonight, staff would then draw up recommendations and those would go to city council during budget time.
Tonight’s meeting is at 7 PM in the basement board room at City Hall.
