Design consultants for the redevelopment of Bluewater Park in Wiarton finally have the green light from council.
After being voted down twice, South Bruce Peninsula Council voted in favour of hiring the firm Stempski and Kelly Associates to design changes to the Wiarton park.
The by-law passed by a vote of 8-1 Tuesday night to hire the consultants for a cost of 132 thousand dollars at last night’s meeting
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says council has set up a steering committee that will meet with the public three or four times over the next few months to get feedback.
Gilbert says the newly formed committee and the consultants will work together to come up with a design plan.
As your heard on Bayshore Broadcasting News last week Councillor Dan Kerr said council decided to revisit the issue because several concerns and questions were addressed.
Council is required to bring in outside help for the designs in order to receive almost one million dollars in government funding.
Gilbert says when the park is complete it will have a positive impact on the economic development for the area.
Everything must be complete by March 2011 for the town to receive the infrastructure funding.
