Hanover’s first E-Waste Day was a great success.
Hanover residents took full advantage of their first ever e-waste day as 24 thousand pounds of electronic waste was collected on Saturday.
Mayor Kathi Maskell is pleased so many residents participated and hopes to make it an annual event.
Maskell suspects the nominal fee of just two dollars an item and five dollars a TV is what made the day so successful.
To discard the same items any other time of the year would have cost a lot more money.
Almost 300 vehicles came through the e-waste depot at Hanover’s Industrial Park.
Last month Brockton residents held their own e-waste day and collected four trailers worth of electronic waste weighing in at 60 thousand pounds.
The Hanover Walkerton Landfill site no longer accepts e-waste.
Anyone caught illegally dumping e-waste at the landfill site will be subject to a 100 dollar fine.
