The Hanover Walkerton Landfill Committee is looking for ways to trim back costs.
Biweekly garbage pickup is one of the options that will be explored.
Hanover Councillor Peter Hambly says biweekly pick up would provide a real cost savings.
Hambly says garbage pick up is one of the only operating expenses that is a variable.
Hambly says this is just a concept that is being discussed and will be investigated closer in the new year.
Hanover and Walkerton have already taken a number of steps to reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in its shared landfill site.
Both communities are switching to a mandatory clear bag policy next July .
They have also banned e-waste from the landfill and created styrofoam depots and hold annual e-waste and hazardous waste days.
The City of Owen Sound changed to bi-weekly garbage pickup in July.
