A special ceremony to rededicate the Owen Sound Cenotaph will take place this afternoon.
The cenotaph has been completly renovated and converted back to its original 1921 design which feature flowing water and a bronze frog at the edge of the water basin.
Owen Sound Councillor and member of the Planning and Heritage Advisory Committee Deb Haswell says a lot of research was done to make sure the sculpture was returned to the original design of Emanual Hahn.
She says over the years the Cenotaph lost many of original features like the water aspect and other things were added like a cross that took away from the monument.
Haswell says a special program set up by Veterans Affairs helped fund the restoration of the Cenotaph along with funding grants from Owen Sound, Georgian Bluffs, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and Cobble Beach.
The special rededication of the Cenotaph will see a colour guard from the Royal Canadian Legion march from City Hall to the site and the dedication will be officiated by Reverend Ted Creen.
