For the next 10 days Canada’s biggest celebration of agriculture and farm life will be on at Toronto’s Exhibition Place.
The 87th Royal Agriculture Winter Fair runs from through Sunday, November 15th.
Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall truly put the “Royal” in the fair when they opened the event Friday.
CEO Bill Duron says in the spirit of “what’s old is new again”, a special exhibit will show the versatility of a cash crop that has many uses.
Duron says a 15-hundred square-foot house made of soy will be on display and after the Fair, it will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
He says all of the furnishings in the home are also manufactured from soy.
Duron says the nation’s beleaguered red-meat industry won’t have as large a presence at the Royal this year but it will still be impressive.
Duron says there will be only one national beef show this year but it will feature 18-hundred head of cattle which he calls exceptional.
Last year there were four national beef shows at the Royal.
