West Grey is spending a bit more on it’s heating system for the new Activity centre, but hopes operation costs will be lower.
Instead of going with a new natural gas heating system, Council decided to install a ground source heating system.
Mayor Kevin Eccles says the change will add 10 to 12 thousand dollars to the project cost, but overall heating costs should be dramatically lower.
Eccles says council wanted the new facility to be a “green” project.
West Grey awarded a 501 thousand dollar contract to New Heights building group of West Grey to construct the Activity Centre, which will replace one destroyed by this summers’ tornado.
It should be up and open in February according to the Mayor.
Most of the cost of the project is covered by insurance on the old building.
