The on-again, off-again proposal for an upgrade of Bluewater park in Wiarton is back on again.
Council decided to revisit the issue at it’s Committee of the Whole meeting this week and this time voted unanimously to hire an architect for the more than one million dollar project on the Bruce.
Councillor Dan Kerr says a number of concerns and questions were addressed at the meeting and he is confident the project will get the green light at the next South Bruce Peninsula council meeting.
In October, the issue of hiring a professional architect was voted down, twice.
Kerr says a lot of concerns about the development will be heard in public meetings over the next few months and he hopes some of the ideas not in the original proposal, can be incorporated.
He feels having someone from outside the community reviewing the ideas will result in a top-notch waterfront park development for Wiarton.
The architectural firm of Kelly and Stemsky will be hired for 132 thousand dollars to analyze the plans, get feedback and develop a final plan for Bluewater park.
Everything must be done by the end of March 2011 for the town to qualify for infrastructure money.
