The H1N1 vaccination flu clinics will be in Port Elgin even earlier than at first reported.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Doctor Hazel Lynn tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they are now scheduling several clinics in the region.
The Port Elgin one will be on November 18th, but they’re having a hard time finding a location.
Doctor Lynn says they are looking at a church in Port Elgin that may be able to hold the clinic.
They usually use the Plex — but the building cannot support the computer server system the Health Unit uses for registration.
One is planned for November 30th at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, but the hours of operation remain up in the air.
Doctor Lynn says they’re still looking for a location in Walkerton.
Doctor Lynn does say the doctors in the area have plenty of the vaccine to dispense to the high risk group that constitutes their various patient loads.
She would like to see vaccinations made available to all school-age children, but they are still limited to giving them to the priority groups right now.
Doctor Lynn says they’re being careful when it comes to advertising the clinics, in case they run out of vaccine.
She says if no more arrives for Grey-Bruce by the end of this week, they’ll run out.
Doctor Lynn defends the early roll out of H1N1 vaccination clinics in Owen Sound and areas of Grey County where not as many residents have family doctors.
She says all of the vaccine has to be used up as quickly as possible in the high priority groups, in larger population areas, not smaller ones.
Doctor Lynn says everyone will get vaccinated eventually, but they want to get the first 25 thousand vaccinated as quickly as possible.
