Hanover’s Home Hardware Building Center is getting into the renewable energy business.
The Hanover store is the first in the province to sell wind turbines.
President Dave Gross calls it an exciting venture that is generating a lot of interest.
Along with wind turbines, the Home Hardware store is also going to begin selling solar panels.
Now that the province’s new Feed in Tariff program has begun, Gross is confident these renewable energy products will sell.
Under the program homeowners — farmers and small business owners will have the opportunity to develop their own micro renewable electricity generation projects.
They will be than be paid a guaranteed, premium price for all the electricity the project produces for 20 years.
Home Hardware’s 33 foot wind turbine — which generates 2.4 kilowatts — will run you about 20 thousand dollars fully installed.
The solar panels will cost about 16 hundred dollars a panel.
