It’s time for you to catch the Olympic fever.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is encouraging residents to form teams of five or more and begin their own Olympic Torch Run as part of a health and wellness exercise.
“Keeping the Pace” is a program where you keep track of the kilometres you walk each day on a regular basis.
50 teams across Grey Bruce have already registered.
The goal is to cover one tenth of the distance over 106 days by the time the torch travels through out Canada.
And the amount is 42 and a half kilometres a day for each team — or 8 and a half kilometres per person.
The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board has challenged its employees to take part in the health and wellness exercise.
Human Resources Manager Suzanne White calls it a fun exercise that will benefit both the body and the mind.
There will be a special ceremony at 12 Noon today in front of Owen Sound City Hall.
It will mark 60 days before the torch arrives in Grey Bruce and Owen Sound on December 28th.
The Olympic Torch Run challenge will begin October 30th and runs through to February 12th – to coincide with the real Olympic Torch Relay through Canada.
Residents can register their own team of five or more at www.keepingpace.com
