The first ever “Pretty In Pink” Fundraising event for Breast Cancer has exceeded expectations on all accounts.
Organizer Sylvia Sheard says not only was the event sold out almost a month before it was held on Sunday, but they are blown away by the amount of money raised at it.
Through ticket sales, donations, and a silent auction, more than nine thousand dollars was raised – surpassing their goal of five thousand.
Sheard says they are still receiving cheques in the mail, following the event as well, and believes they could double their initial goal.
Sheard thanks the 220 women in attendance Sunday at the CAW Family Education Centre in Port Elgin for their support and generosity.
The event featured a luncheon, door prizes and silent auction for women only.
Plans for next year’s event are already in the works.
