It’s that time of year when Owen Sound Councillors and staff will sharpen their pencils to look at city services and what can be done to improve them.
The Service Analysis gets underway thismorning at the Tom Thompson Art Gallery.
Councillor Deb Haswell this year will be especially challenging because of reports of cutbacks next year in provincial funding to cities and towns.
She says because of the potential loss of those grants next year, the City could be very hard pressed at keeping some existing services at their current levels with out some type of cutbacks.
Haswell says service analysis is a good time for city staff and council to take a close look at just what they are doing well and what they are not doing too well and what has to be done to improve other services.
She says this is a good time for Council to stand back and take a look at the big picture as far as city services are concerned.
Haswell says this is not a time when the city is looking at any potential tax hikes or the like.
This year’s Service Analysis takes place today and tomorrow at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
