Two vaccines are being offered tomorrow at the flu clinic at the Grey Bruce Health Unit in Owen Sound.
The clinic is being held from 10 AM until 7 PM.
Seniors who are 65 or older can get the seasonal flu vaccine — while those in a high priority group without a family doctor can get the H1N1 vaccine.
Program Manager Denna Leach says they have been inundated with calls from people wondering if they can get the pandemic flu shot.
One morning this week they handled over 500 calls — Leach isn’t sure if the deaths of two teens recently has led to the surge in calls or not.
Leach says the priority group includes those under 65 with chronic medical conditions, pregnant women, healthy children 6 months to 5 years of age and health care workers.
With the large volume of people, there will likely be a wait time to receive the vaccine.
Officials want you to bring your Ontario health card and drivers licence and to wear a short sleeve shirt.
Because they have a limited supply of H1N1 flu vaccine, the general public won’t get their shots until next week at the earliest.
Flu clinics are set up November 3rd thru the 23rd at various locations.
For now, they will be for priority group members unless more vaccine arrives and the clinics will be expanded to the general public.
