Bruce Power is taking every precaution they can to protect their workers from the seasonal flu and the possible onslaught of the H1N1 virus.
Company spokesperson Steve Cannon says a lot of their preparation has been in the form of education for the workers.
Cannon says they’re constantly reminding workers of the hygiene process to fight off any flu bugs.
He says, they, like other businesses, have hand sanitizers in strategic areas as well.
Cannon says soon seasonal and H1N1 flu clinics will be conducted on site at Bruce Power.
To date Cannon says there has not been a noticeable increase in absenteeism from the site.
Cannon says in a way, they’re almost better prepared for any contingencies.
He says they’re considered an essential service since the population needs electricity.
As a result they do regularly drill for all sorts of emergency situations.
Cannon says the company has not seen a spike in absenteeism beyond what they would expect.
Bruce Power is home to some three thousand workers.
