The absentee rate is on the rise in the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board.
There are a few schools within the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board which have an absentee rate of 10 per cent or more.
The 10 per cent rate triggers an immediate call to both the Public Health Unit and the Ministry of Education.
Director of Education Bruce MacPherson says the Board is keeping close tabs on all of its schools.
And while the flu has hit this region, MacPherson doesn’t foresee any school closures anytime soon.
He says this would be a decision that would only be made in consultation with the public health unit.
For now MacPherson says they will closely monitor absentee rates and work with Public Health.
In the meantime students are being encouraged to use the hand sanitizers at the schools and stay home if they are feeling unwell.
